Alzheimer’s Health Care Services and the ServiceLink Resource Center of Coos County, projects of North Country Elder programs, announce their Annual Caregiver Retreat. The retreat is designed for both caregivers of their loved ones at home and professional providers.

This year’s retreat will be conducted in two Friday afternoon sessions. The first is Friday May 1, 2009 at the Senior Center in Berlin 610 Sullivan St. Berlin NH, with registration at 1:00 pm and welcome at 1:15 pm. The May 1st speaker will be Claudia Malo ADC, CDP. Claudia is a nationally certified activity director and a certified dementia practitioner who resides in Twin MT. She is currently the program Director at the Birches of Concord. She also partnered with the Tampa Bay chapter of the Alzheimer’s association and has adopted Dr. Cameron Camp’s Montessori concept for memory impaired individuals.

The following session will be Friday May 8th at 1:00 p.m. at the same location and will feature Norine Elliott, ARNP. Norine has worked in the field of psychiatric nursing for 32 years in a variety of roles: nurse psychotherapist, psychiatric nurse practitioner and educator. She is presently a professor of Nursing at White Mountains Community college.

Both of these programs are at no cost to attendees.
