Visitation Services

RJC offers monitored, supervised, and therapeutic visitation services at both our Tamworth and Conway locations. Usually court ordered, our visitation services offer the non-custodial parent a safe, neutral and comfortable venue for visits that comply with the orders of the referring party, usually the court or GAL.

Monitored and supervised visits take place under the direction of a specially trained staff facilitator. The parent is expected to exercise “parenting time” for the allotted time in our “living room” space filled with toys, a TV and VCR/DVD. During these visits the facilitator will address any issues related to basic parenting skills, address and intervene in the event of any problematic behaviors, and document all interactions and occurrences during the visit. In the event that a problem arises and the facilitator believes the physical and/or emotional safety of the child(ren) is in jeopardy the visit will be ended.

Therapeutic visitation operates similar to supervised visitation, except that a licensed therapist is the person facilitating the visit in conjunction with therapeutic services. The therapist interacts with the family prior to, during and after the visit to provide them with the tools and knowledge to mend and heal the parent-child relationship. Guidance is given to the parent on bonding and nurturing techniques, child development, positive discipline, and developmentally appropriate child behaviors. The parent can then practice the new skills during the visit while the therapist provides guidance and feedback. The therapist also makes sure that the guidelines set by the Court or referral agency are followed, and submits progress reports and recommendations to the referral source as required.

Counseling

In addition to visitation services the program therapist provides family and individual counseling. Services include family dynamics, co-parenting, relationships, emotion regulation and adolescent issues.

Program Accessibility and Fees

All visitation and counseling programs are offered in both our Tamworth and Conway offices and use a sliding fee scale based on income to determine the program fee. Payment plans are available.
